Combai Dog Breeds

Also known as the Indian Bear Hound or Indian Beardog, the  Combai  is an ancient breed of dog once used for hunting boar, bison and deer as early as the 9th Century BC.

Indigenous to Southern India, the  Combai  is rare and endangered. In fact so rare and endangered that the traditional  Combai  is now considered by many to be extinct.

It is considered that many of those dogs now being sold as  Combai  are in fact crossbreeds between the Labrador Retriever and the Rhodesian Ridgeback, which produces a Combai-like dog, although not necessarily one with the same level of aggression or abilities.
